Rosendale Theatre’s Dance Film Sunday invites you to a special Mother’s Day showing of The Royal Ballet in a digital cinema experience of Giselle in all of its romantic splendor, mystery, and magnificence. Hear Adolphe Adam’s exquisite score played by The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House—performed at London’s Covent Garden.

A “teaser” talk at the top of the screening about Adam and his music will be given by Eric Goldberg, an Ulster County based educator, writer, and music critic.

London’s The Telegraph wrote, “The Royal Ballet’s revival of Giselle provides the succulent spectacle of a world-class company at the top of its game.”

Marianela Nuñez in the role of Giselle and Rupert Pennefather as Albrecht lead the 100 member company in the ballet that perfectly balances dance and narrative. Audiences are captivated in particular by Giselle’s timeless second act, a living and breathing example of the Romantic ideal: on one side the revengeful, supernatural Wilis and on the other the ethereal Giselle whose love for Albrecht transcends heartbreak and death.
